Briony Molyneux represents prison officer in high profile sentencing hearing.

On 8 January 2021, Briony Molyneux, instructed by Keith Sheppard of Thompsons solicitors, represented a Prison Officer at her complex and sensitive sentencing hearing.  The Misconduct in Public Office case attracted much publicity in the press, both locally and nationally. The case involved a former Prison Officer on the Isle of Wight, who had formed an inappropriate relationship with a Prisoner who was serving a sentence for double murder.

There were several charges, ranging from having sexual contact, to sanctioning an assault on a colleague by a prisoner.

In testing circumstances, Briony was able to secure a good result, with the custodial sentence imposed being considerably lower than such offences would ordinarily carry.
