Briony Molyneux secures acquittal following trial of serious sexual offences.
03 March 2021
Briony Molyneux, instructed by Amy Cox at Sonn MacMillan Walker, has secured an acquittal following a 10 day trial at Leeds Crown Court.
Briony’s client was accused of rape, sexual assault and unlawful sexual penetration. If convicted, owing to his two previous convictions for similar offences which were put before the jury, he would have likely received a life sentence with minimum tariff of around 20 years. In context, a hugely significant sentence to face, with him only being 25 at present.
Much of the case revolved around messaging between the Defendant and Complainant, who had been in touch over a variety of Social Media and messaging platforms, which were presented to the jury. Briony's careful and thorough analysis of the communications data ensured that her client had the very best representation, and was acquitted.
