Clea Topolski secures acquittal in firearms conspiracy case.
09 February 2022
Clea Topolski instructed by Melissa Ansah of Murray Hughmans solicitors secured unanimous acquittals in a case alleging the possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The case involved complex legal argument on the admissibility of gang evidence. The Crown submitted that the evidence provided important context and served to rebut the defence of innocent association with the Co-defendant, who was found in possession of a loaded semi automatic weapon.
Despite the Court allowing the Crown’s application to adduce such evidence (including the playing of a drill music video to the jury), the jury were not persuaded that Mr M was in joint possession of the firearm.
