Julia Flanagan secures acquittal for client accused of sexual assault.
28 May 2025
Julia Flanagan was privately instructed to represent a popular and successful massage therapist, accustomed to dealing with a clientele of predominantly high net worth Russians. On the day in question he was, unusually, treating a British banker in her own home and was afterwards accused of sexually assaulting her and using excessive force during the massage. With the assistance of technical charts, and evidence from other customers, the masseur was able to demonstrate that the complainant had misunderstood what would be a normal and culturally acceptable massage for his Russian clientele and that she had overreacted. He was swiftly found not guilty and awarded his costs.
Julia was instructed by Alex Whitmore of Sonn MacMillan Walker and was assisted at trial by Ellie Godwin.
