Julia Flanagan successfully represents police officer accused of gross misconduct.

23 January 2026

PC A was accused of a series of allegations of dishonesty in respect of the contents of a witness statement she had written, documents she had produced and conversations with a senior police officer. The officer asserted she had been discriminated against in the workplace because of her religion and the allegations were, she believed, a potential further example of discrimination and related to simple errors on her part. All allegations concerned dishonesty whilst on duty. Through cross-examination and the production of a significant bundle of defence material, the officer’s honesty was established and none of the allegations of dishonesty were found proved. The panel did not find it necessary to rule on whether there had in fact been discrimination but found that the officer had been treated with a lack of empathy.

Julia was instructed by Lucy Reynolds and Chloe Wynne of JMW Solicitors.
