Christopher Bealey represented a Defendant in the Crown Court charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. The incident was recorded on both officers’ body worn cameras.
Christopher drafted a detailed defence statement questioning the legality of the actions and intentions of the first arresting officer. On the morning of trial, the judge commented “it feels to me that the police officer is trying to find reason to arrest [the defendant] and one has to query whether his initial interaction was lawful … the officer is hell bent on arresting him and that is obvious from the footage.”
Following a review of the case, the Prosecution offered no evidence. A Not Guilty verdict was entered on both counts.
Christopher was instructed by Stefan Sutherland of Carson Kaye Solicitors.
