Crucible was founded in 2020 to form a small, high-quality set focusing on complex white-collar crime, serious general crime, and high-quality regulatory matters. Under our Head of Chambers, Neil Hawes KC, we have quickly established a fantastic reputation in all our areas of work. We now have 27 members (4 KCs and 23 juniors) and are expanding significantly.
We are seeking an ambitious and highly organised Junior Clerk with 0-2 years experience to join our growing clerking team, led by Senior Clerk James Hall. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting some of the leading barristers in the country. The role will be based in our premises next to the Royal Courts of Justice at 1 Bell Yard, and we hope to offer flexible working arrangements once the probationary period is successfully completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with diary management and case scheduling
- Liaising with professional clients, members of chambers, and administrative teams
- Managing court listings and ensuring deadlines are met
- Providing excellent client service and maintaining strong professional relationships
- Working closely with the clerking team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades 4–9) including Maths and English
- Excellent IT skills (training will be provided for LEX/Opus 2 Chambers Management Software)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Professional and confident telephone manner
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
