Kathleen’s client was accused of intentional strangulation, two counts of sexual assault, common assault and attempted rape. The prosecution’s case was that the defendant had invited the complainant into his car before attacking her and attempting to rape her.
Through careful cross examination, Kathleen was able to identify several inconsistencies in the complainant’s evidence and successfully challenged her account.
After a 4-day trial, the jury returned unanimous verdicts of not guilty on all 5 counts after 45 minutes of deliberation.
Kathleen was instructed by Rachel Hobba of Sonn MacMillan Walker.
