Liam Chin’s client acquitted of causing Actual Bodily Harm after trial.

14 April 2025

Liam Chin represented a client charged with causing Actual Bodily Harm against his ex-partner. The Crown alleged that whilst in breach of a restraining order for a previous GBH against the same complainant, the defendant went to her home, punched her repeatedly, and slammed her head into a mirror causing significant injuries. Whilst the defendant admitted breaching a restraining order, he denied unlawfully causing any injuries to the complainant.

The jury were shown images of the injuries, as well as body-worn footage of police arriving at the distressed complainant’s home where she was laying on the floor covered in blood with bruising to her head.

Liam was able to successfully take the jury through the inaccuracies and flaws in the prosecution case whilst raising self-defence and defence of the complainant herself.

Following a 6-day trial, the jury took just a few hours to unanimously acquit the defendant.

Liam was instructed by Whitney Dixon of Lansbury Worthington Solicitors.
