Miranda Lickert secures favourable conclusion at Article 2 inquest.
01 May 2026
Miranda Lickert successfully represented a nursing assistant at an Article 2 jury inquest before the Senior Coroner at Sunderland Coroner's Court. A resident of a psychiatric intensive care unit had died in circumstances where Miranda's client was alleged not to have been observing him correctly. Across 2 days of evidence, Miranda brought to light serious deficiencies in the shift handover process, a chaotic working environment with inconsistent and incomplete record-keeping, and the client's excellent record and reputation as a nursing assistant. Following successful submissions that it would not be safe to leave neglect to the jury, the conclusion returned was one of accident, with a finding that there had been a failure to correctly communicate the needs of the deceased to staff.
Miranda was instructed by Harjinder Saundh and assisted by Sofiya De'Ath of Thompsons Solicitors.
