Rosalia Myttas-Perris represented a nurse who had pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office for having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate at the prison she was employed to work at. The nurse was sentenced in the criminal proceedings to 6-months immediate imprisonment.
The NMC invited the fitness to practice committee to impose a strike-off order, removing the nurse from the register. Rosalia made submissions in relation to the circumstances of the case and emphasised her insight and reflection. The panel ultimately imposed a suspension order.
Rosalia was instructed by the Royal College of Nursing.
