Roderick James's client acquitted of large scale spice trading.

10 April 2024

Crucible’s Roderick James was instructed in this case relating to the importation, exportation and domestic supply of hundreds of kilograms of “spice” (synthetic cannabis) between 2017 and 2021. The sentences imposed not only provide an indication of the scale of the operation but also illustrate the higher tariffs, comparative to other class B drugs, that defendants and their representatives should be aware may be applied to offences involving spice.

Roderick’s client was found not guilty of all counts brought against him in the case. Having been acquitted of some matters by verdict of the jury following an 8 week trial, the prosecution elected to offer no evidence in respect of the one remaining charge on which the jury could not agree.

Roderick led Laura Collier of 25 Bedford Row at trial, instructed by Ria Kudrati of Bark & Co Solicitors.
