Sebastian Cox secures acquittal of man accused of sexual assault at protest.

18 June 2026

Following a 3-day trial at Southwark Crown Court, Sebastian successfully represented a man accused of sexually assaulting a stranger during a Palestine Solidarity Campaign rally.

The defendant and complainant had both been in attendance at the rally in Parliament Square in January 2025. During a 2-minute silence to commemorate the lives of Palestinian children, the complainant reported that the man had pushed his groin against her whilst she was bent over to speak to her young child for 1 - 2 minutes. The prosecution alleged that he had then followed her through the crowd and pressed himself against her again near Trafalgar Square. The defendant denied having made any contact with her in the crowd at any stage.

Sebastian sensitively cross-examined the complainant and another eyewitness present. Careful attention had to be paid to the recent complaint evidence to the complainant’s friends and the police very shortly after the alleged incident. The defendant was acquitted by way of a unanimous verdict following the trial.

Sebastian was instructed by Sidney Decardi-Nelson at MK Law.
