Unanimous not guilty in Attempted Murder for Tasmin Malcolm.

17 September 2025

Following a two-week trial at the Old Bailey, Tasmin Malcolm's client was unanimously acquitted of attempted murder and the alternative charges of wounding with intent (s.18 OAPA) and wounding (s.20 OAPA).

The case concerned a stabbing in which the Complainant suffered two wounds, one of which was just 1.5cm from his heart, the other which severed a vein. The Defendant accepted being the person to inflict the wounds but relied on self-defence.

In the course of the trial, Tasmin had to cross examine a medical expert as to the nature of the injuries, in addition to calling psychiatric expert evidence as part of the defence case. Both the Defendant and Complainant were teenagers, which required particular skill and sensitivity in the advocacy style used.

The Defendant pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon at an earlier hearing and will be sentenced at a later date for that offence.

Tasmin was instructed by Sash Sidhu and Tia Ayton of SVS Solicitors.
